Adoption Fees

*Please Note: If you become approved to adopt from us and choose to commit to a certain animal that at the time is too young to adopt or may still need vaccinations or spay/neuter, we will accept a deposit to hold the animal for you until he/she is ready to go home but please know that if you change your mind or if your circumstances change and you are no longer able to complete the adoption, these deposits are nonrefundable.The amount of this "HOLD FEE" varies, is set by Shelter management and depends on the animal in question.

ADOPTION PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE RIGHT NOW On All Altered Canines To Approved homes

* Fees are based on the breed, age, health and training of the animal.

* All fees are subject to change without notice.

* The Forest County Humane Society reserves the right
      to refuse an applicant for animal adoption.

 

PUPPIES up to 12 months of age ......................................................................$500 we alter when old enough at our veterinarian. A refundable check or cash has to be left at the shelter and then will be returned to you when you show proof of spay/neuter if you alter at your veterinarian or bring back to us to alter at ours.  [prices may vary per situation] 
 

DOGS 13 months of age or older .......................................................................$400 [ may differ upon circumstances ]

UNIQUE breeds may be more than listed price and based on per case animals.  

SENIOR DOGS or DOGS with special needs ................................................Negotiable 
Every animal is a unique situation and prices will vary upon each one

Small Breed Dogs.... Generally are $600 but prices are negotiable depending upon age of canine
Every animal is a unique situation and prices will vary upon each one

 KITTENS up to 12 months of age ....................................................................$125
 

Certain breeds may be more than the listed price.  Please see notation above regarding spay/neuter [ alter ]

CATS 13 months of age and older ......................................................................$100

SENIOR CATS or CATS with special needs ..................................................$50

Claimed Pet fee ............................................................................................$35 per day & any vaccinations etc.  Please note you must provide proof of ownership when you pick up any claimed pet.  Owners that have animals that come to the FCHS as strays, more than once will be charged DOUBLE the per day boarding fee starting with the second offence and so on.  Any additional strays that come here belonging to the same person, or address will be charged TRIPLE the daily fees.  This is done to prevent animals to be running at large, that may cause harm or even death to the animal and people.
